Council Chairperson’s welcoming remarks

I am delighted to welcome you to our first ever website and it is one of the aspirations of the New Dawn Government of His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema that timely and efficient information dissemination is a key factor of development.

This platform is important and timely as it will be able to showcase to the broader members of the public what Kasempa Town Council offers and what the District as a whole has in store.

Kasempa District is one of the 11 Districts in North-Western Province. Kasempa District was created as a District in 1901 and became a functional District and Native Council in 1906.

The District is named after His Royal Highness Senior Chief Kasempa. Other Chiefs include Chief Ingwe and other headmen who form part of the traditional leadership.  

The civic function of the Local Authority is to administer community affairs of the local people in a prudent manner. The Council Chairperson is a City Father, Civic Leader and First citizen of the District. The position of the Council Chairperson according to the current Constitution of Zambia is popularly elected by all eligible, registered voters in the District.

Kasempa was chosen as a centre for the BOMA by Sir Colin Hurding who was at that time Police Command and Acting Administrator for North-East Rhodesia in 1900.

The major economic activity in Kasempa is farming (agriculture) though other such as Mining, Industry and Tourism activities are rapidly booming. The district is strategically located and is connected to other towns such as Mumbwa, Kaoma, Mufumbwe, Kalulushi and Kalumbila districts. Kasempa district enjoys favorable climatic conditions, fertile soil, friendly and accommodating local residents.

Despite Kasempa district being one of the oldest districts in Zambia, the district has been starved for a long time of any significant development in the form of infrastructure which include good roads, social, health and education services.

Thankfully, the coming into office by the Republican President His Excellency Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the New Dawn Government has changed the historical stagnation as Kasempa is now receiving an equal share of the national cake through the prompt release and increased allocation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). 

We therefore call on all potential Investors in the various sectors of the Economy to come and invest in Kasempa.

It is a great honour and privilege to host and have a website and share the developmental activities as well as our aspirations as guided and shaped by the people of Kasempa on this important platform.

This Platform will enable the Local Authority to share information to the general public in real time and upload various developmental activities and milestones as recorded from various programmes among other, the implementation of the Constituency Development Fund documents.

This development therefore, brings me a lot of joy as this platform will eradicate the challenge we have had for years when it comes to sharing and dissemination of developmental information to the people of Kasempa and Zambia as a whole.
